Promised a “high-paying job abroad” — in reality, prepared for sexual exploitation.
In Zakarpattia, a human trafficking network organized by a 23-year-old resident of the city of Chop was exposed. She was the one recruiting Ukrainian women who found themselves in difficult life circumstances or in need of money, promising them “profitable jobs” in the Middle East.
In addition to the educational event itself, this occasion became another important milestone in strengthening the partnership between state and civil society organizations in the field of child protection. As part of the event, an agreement was signed.
The reality was different: the woman was sending Ukrainian women to brothels in Qatar and Jordan.
During a special operation, the police recorded an attempt to illegally transport two Ukrainian women through the “Chop” border crossing into the Czech Republic. The organizer was detained on the spot.
During the searches, the following were seized:
- documents and draft records,
- bank cards,
- mobile phones and equipment used to coordinate the “scheme.”
The woman has already been served with a notice of suspicion under Part 2, Article 149 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — human trafficking. She is in custody. Bail is set at 302,000 UAH.
This trafficking channel had been operating for a long time and was dismantled in cooperation with the Migration Police.
