Countering human trafficking in Ukraine since 2011
The Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine, together with Caritas Ukraine, gathered partners for an open dialogue on how to rescue victims of human trafficking.
Dmytro Lubinets, the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights:
“The risks of falling into situations of human trafficking have increased due to the war. Our common task is not only to respond to such cases but also to prevent them, ensuring protection and support for every victim.”
In addition to the educational event itself, this occasion became another important milestone in strengthening the partnership between state and civil society organizations in the field of child protection. As part of the event, a memorandum was signed.
Representatives of the Coalition are ready to join monitoring visits in the regions together with representatives of the Office of the Commissioner for Human Rights. We also proposed that the Office’s representatives take part in the autumn trainings on countering human trafficking and work together to develop a joint information policy in this field.
The format made it possible to bring together more than 500 specialists from the regions — representatives of government bodies, local authorities, and services working with victims — both online and offline.
These agreements consolidate strategic partnership and create a foundation for systemic cooperation aimed at protecting the rights of children who have suffered from violence and exploitation.
